Our highly successful Accelerated Summer Treatment Program (6 weeks for ADHD or ADD and 8 weeks for Autism Spectrum Disorders) was initially developed nearly 20 years ago to accommodate out of town patients for convenience. With more free time for ease of scheduling and treatment, the summer became an ideal time to help children improve more rapidly before the new academic year is here.
We learned that our out of town patients completing the accelerated treatment program in a shorter, more concentrated time period would generally improve faster and stabilize their improvements sooner than doing the same number of treatments over the typical 3-4 month period. Some of the most dramatic clinical breakthroughs occurred in accelerated treatment programs because of frequent reinforcements of the improvements with 5 treatments per week. Consequently, the Drake Institute decided to make the Accelerated Treatment Program available for any of our patients who so desired.
The Accelerated Summer Treatment Program has now become very valuable for our local patients as well who want to see their child improve their capabilities and self confidence over the summer so they will be much more capable to successfully meet the challenges of the new academic year this fall. If the child is still on medications, many times the medications can be gradually eliminated during the intensive course of the accelerated program.
For many of our local families, the summer also has become an easier time to get their child helped before the new academic year begins. The Accelerated Summer Treatment Program has a more flexible schedule which gives parents the option to bring their child in at any time during the day.
If your child struggled this past year with homework, completing tasks with frequent redirection, difficulty with concentration, or underachieved then obtaining an accurate diagnosis is the first priority at the Drake Institute. The individualized treatment programs are based on the clinical evaluation and qEEG brainmap. The location of any imbalances on the brainmap are correlated with the patient's symptoms to develop the optimal treatment protocols with neurofeedback (EEG biofeedback) for improving or resolving symptoms.. Each patient's treatment program is unique to their needs.
