Diagnosing the Problem - The Value of Knowing
At The Drake Institute, we know how important it is for our patients and their
families to have the fullest confidence in their diagnosis. And we know that
the best opportunity for a successful treatment requires an assessment that
pinpoints needs and guides care.
If a patient provides us with prior diagnostic workups, we consider them carefully
and include the findings, but we do not accept the diagnosis until we confirm
it for ourselves. Our diagnostics are the road maps for patient care.
For example, inattention could be a patient’s
only problem; or it could be a symptom that is masking other issues, such as
other learning disorders. We begin with either attentional (ADHD) care or stress
treatments, depending on the patient's needs.
We provide each patient with an evaluation assessment by applying
- universal medical standards
- our experience based on thousands of individual clinical evaluations
- well-established scientific evidence
- and the specialized knowledge of leading professionals and institutions
in the medical scientific community.
Our intake staff is backed by a team of neuropsychologists and our medical
director who reviews each assessment.
The Basic Evaluation / Screening done during the Initial Appointment provides us with a great deal of necessary information. This could
very well be all the data needed for a patient’s program, but we conduct
further psycho-educational, neuropsychological, or auditory/language testing
if warranted.
